The Ruin of Earth (Part 5: Oceania and Antarctica)

Having already covered the Pacific in previous chapters, Oceania is a simple continent to catalogue.

Almost the entire territory is dominated the United Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand, dominant subsidiary of the British Commonwealth on Earth. While the Commonwealth also maintains subsidiaries in the Americas, and a few parts of Africa, as befits the ancient thalassocracy of the British Empire, Australia-New Zealand is the base of Britain's Terran influence.

Like most Earth remnants of pre-WWIII Great Powers, Australia-New Zealand is mostly self-governing. Most of the population lives in either New Zealand, the Australian East Coast or the broad swathe of the Pacific that they dominate. A form of agrarian socialism dominates which diverges from the Socialist Labour Party doctrine, known as Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist-Bevanist-Seddonism. Richard Seddon has been substantially rewritten as a great socialist visionary and British patriot, a convenient symbol to rally around.

Much of the interior of Australia is a desert ruin, years of nuclear weapons testing and rocket launches leaving it scarcely habitable. Wandering clans of technobarbarians wage war with one another, while the West Coast is home to a cluster of autonomous city-states which still claim loyalty to Crown and Party.

Antarctica is home to the Reichstaat Neuschwabenland, the centre of Nazi rule on Earth, buried deep beneath the ice. Flying saucers continue to zip too and fro between Thule, Neuschwabenland and the asteroids. The Neuschwabenisch are deeply dismissive of the Thuleans, seeing them as degenerate pagans, and they harbour similar feelings about the Asteroid Nazis, seeing their physical weakness borne of low gravity as mirroring a sickness of the heart. The Neuschwabenish breed the Ubermenschen, the new breed of Aryans who will inherit the stars.
